MMI's strong academic program has immeasurable rewards for both parents and students.
For most families, an MMI education pays for itself in the long run.
Each year, our graduates receive scholarships to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country.
In fact, the 34 members of the graduating Class of 2010 earned more than $3.765 million in scholarships to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country including Duke, Penn, RPI, Swarthmore, University of Chicago, Purdue, RIT, Ursinus, Franklin & Marshall and Pitt Honors College, to name a few. Several of our graduates were National Merit Commended Scholars and one was a Coca-Cola Scholar National Finalist.
Ashley Morrison, a Class of 2005 MMI graduate, earned a full scholarship to St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She graduated in 2009 and is now in her second year at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical School following her graduation from St. Joseph’s. "Ashley’s full-tuition scholarship at St. Joseph’s was probably worth $125,000 to $150,000,” said Michael Morrison, Ashley’s father. "MMI well prepared her, especially when it comes to writing and speaking. This gave Ashley a distinct advantage over most of her fellow freshmen.”
MMI also offers numerous Advanced Placement classes. Students who enroll in them at MMI take the end-of-the-year AP tests, enabling many of them to "place out” of entry-level college courses. It isn’t unusual for an MMI graduate who has taken AP courses to skip introductory college classes. Colleges and universities are interested in students who have gone beyond their normal class work and enrolled in Advanced Placement courses during secondary school. During the enrollment process, this is viewed as significant evidence of a student’s academic accomplishment, drive and preparation.
Jeremy Hauze, a 2005 graduate of MMI, used credits from the Advanced Placement tests to exempt himself from a full year of college courses. "MMI really paid off for Jeremy. Our son received a full scholarship to King’s College and received a full year’s credit for the AP courses as well,” said Mary and David Hauze, Jeremy’s parents.
Many MMI graduates report their first-year university classes cover material they’ve already learned at MMI. This eases the student’s transition to college and helps them to excel in their first year of college.
An MMI education is like an insurance policy for a child’s future success.
It is because of the extraordinary interest, guidance, and education of our talented students that MMI has a nearly perfect success rate when it comes to our recent graduating classes continuing their education. In the last 12 years, 411 of 414 MMI graduates have gone on to attend colleges and universities.
And, our students aren't just getting accepted into some of the nation's most prestigious colleges and universities - they're being accepted under Early Decision programs, which recognize the "best of the best."
Other ways to measure MMI’s record of success include:
-
A nearly 100 percent placement rate in some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation.
-
The highest average Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score in Northeastern Pennsylvania according to a published report in the Citizens’ Voice (2005). With a 2010 SAT average of 1702, MMI scored higher than any other school in the Northeast and more than 200 points above state and national averages.
-
Our most recent graduating class received an average college scholarship award of nearly $111,000 per student.
-
Academic teams that compete regionally and perform well every year, such as Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS), Mathcounts, Biology Olympics, Envirothon, Stock Market Game, Robotics and more.
-
Frequent first-place awards in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science program.
-
A large number of students who go on to post-graduate degrees in fields such as law, medicine, business, biology, engineering, and more.
At MMI, we help all students succeed by providing them with the education, faculty, and support they need to reach their fullest potential.
