Merit-based scholarships are awarded in the form of the Academic Excellence Scholarship worth $750 annually. For students enrolling at MMI for the first time, the Academic Excellence Scholarship is given to those who score at or above the 95th percentile on either the quantitative ability or verbal ability test and on one of the achievement tests on the Admissions' Entrance Exam. This Scholarship is not given to incoming sixth-grade students.
All returning MMI students with an aggregate average of 92 or higher in all their classes will be awarded the $750 merit award. Simply, if a student ends the year prior with a GPA over 92, he/she will receive the Academic Excellence award in the next year. If a student does not get the merit award one year, he/she has the ability to receive it in future years if he/she pulls his/her average above the 92 threshold. If a student's yearly average is an 89 one year, he/she will not get the award in the following year. If the student improves to a 93 in the next year, he/she will once again qualify.
Students must also have a fine citizenship record at MMI for the Academic Excellence Scholarship to be renewed annually. All families are notified on June 15 if they qualify for the Academic Excellence Scholarship for the following year.
