What do Ancient Egypt, The Physics of Popcorn, and The Wonderful World of Hydrodynamics all have in common? They’re all projects that were featured at the 2009 MMI Preparatory School Annual Open House on Sunday, March 29, 2009.
Each year, MMI students are challenged with preparing special research projects, which are displayed at the annual Open House event. All MMI students in grades 6-12 display, explain, and demonstrate their projects in the Old Main and Century II buildings and in the Science Wing.
The event is open to the public and visitors will be able to observe a variety of student projects, including many in areas of literature, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, food projects, prepared primarily by foreign language students, are featured. The food, which may be sampled, is served in an atmosphere authentic to the nation of the food’s origin.
All projects were prepared by MMI students under the guidance of faculty advisors. Each project is then evaluated during Open House by a panel of judges from the Hazleton campus of Penn State University. Local restaurateurs evaluate food projects. The winners are then honored at a special assembly.
The upcoming MMI Open House will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
