Academic, activity awards presented at MMI Preparatory School

Academic and student service awards assemblies were held recently at MMI Preparatory School, Freeland. Awards were presented by Dr. William Shergalis, School President; Thomas Hood, Vice President; John Scibilia, Director of Guidance; and by advisors of various co-curricular activities.

Students from MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, recently earned recognition for their performances in the 2008 National Latin Exam, and one MMI student, Michael Macarevich, was notified that he earned a perfect score.

White House attorney returns to MMI to deliver commencement address
Associate White House Counsel to the President Scott A. Coffina, Esquire, is coming home to deliver the commencement address to the graduating seniors of MMI Preparatory School on May 29. Coffina is a Hazleton native and a 1985 MMI graduate.

“Part of my message to the MMI graduates will focus on the importance of developing strong, lasting relationships. Always keep in touch. Your leaders, peers and co-workers can have such an impact on your life,” Coffina said.

MMI students earn Open House awards
MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, recently held a special assembly to honor students whose projects won prizes at the April 20 Open House. MMI Open House, held each spring, requires students in all grades to develop an independent research project, which is evaluated by an off-campus team of judges that selects winners in the categories of science/mathematics, art/humanities and cooking.

MMI recognizes Best of the Best

MMI Preparatory School recently awarded its “Best of the Best” honors for the second assembly of the school year. Junior Adam Wisniewski, first from left, was awarded top “Best of the Best” honors. Other honors were awarded to, second from left, Jacob Daniels, Joshua Kiddish, David Polashenski, Marianne Virnelson and Traci Smith.

MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, recently held its second Best of the Best Performance Assembly for the 2007-2008 school year and recognized six students as “Best of the Best.”
