A portion of the ticket price and any additional donations to MMI received in honor of Bill and his wife, Miki, will be used to help establish the Dr. William A. ’58 and Miki Shergalis Endowed Scholarship. The goal to establish the scholarship is $25,000.

Shergalis, a member of the Class of 1958, is the first MMI alumnus to serve as president.  He said at the time he accepted the position that he wanted to “give back to the school that gave me an excellent start on the road to becoming a professional educator.”

Speaking about his upcoming retirement, Shergalis said, “I have been a full-time educator for 40 years now and I think it’s time to step back a little. I’m very proud of the changes that have occurred at MMI over the past seven years and believe the school is in excellent shape to continue to help the young people of the greater Hazleton and Freeland areas obtain a college preparatory education.”
