The boys and girls’ varsity cross country teams compete during the fall season and are led by first-year head coach John Weaver. Coach Weaver’s prior coaching experience came at Hazleton Area High School and Bishop Hafey High School. MMI’s Spanish teacher, Dennis Clarke, is the assistant cross country coach. Competing in the Wyoming Valley Conference, the boys’ team earned the title of Division Champions in 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2002 while the girls’ team won the Division in 1997. During the fall of 2007, senior runner Gabbie Dei Tos established a new school record with a 5K time of 19:51, knocking over three minutes off of the prior record held by Tess Carboni.
