MMI to host summer camps open to all area students

Area elementary and middle school students will have some fun and exciting educational activities to participate in this summer, as MMI Preparatory School will host five fun-filled summer programs. All area students are invited to participate.

The Freeland-based college prep school is hosting the summer camp program beginning June 16. The camps will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.  One of the camps, Robotics, is the only summer camp that will be held Monday through Thursday, for two consecutive weeks.

MMI Prep Day at PNC Field
Join us for MMI Prep Day at PNC Field.  Come out to see the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees play the Pawtucket Red Sox on Saturday, May 17th at 7:00 p.m.  Included in the price of the ticket is a seat in the "Party Deck", an all-you-can-eat buffet, a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees hat and a free SWB Yankees Play Ball Program.  Cost of the tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased by calling the MMI Main Office at (570) 636-1108.
 
MMI student places fourth at National Brain Bee competition
MMI Prep sophomore Joseph Caputo who won the Northeast Pennsylvania Brain Bee competition at the University of Scranton, recently placed fourth in the nation at the national American Brain Bee competition.
Joseph Caputo, a sophomore at MMI Preparatory School, Freeland, took fourth place in the nation at the first annual United States Brain Bee competition held at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He also placed first in both the oral exam and the patient diagnosis categories.

National Junior And Latin Honor Society Inductions held
MMI students inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and the National Latin Honor Society are from left, NJHS officers Jacob Daniels, vice president; Courtney Bogansky, president; Megan Beggs, secretary; Amanda Miller, treasurer; Michael Macarevich, Brittany Fisher, Alyssa Triano and Paul Brasavage. Back row, Roderick Cook, Annika Wessel, Antonia Diener, Andrea Lara, Tyler Fulton, Brianna Simpkins, Caroline Bandurska and Christian Parsons.
Students from MMI Preparatory School were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and the National Latin Honor Society (NLHS) at ceremonies held recently at the school in Freeland.

Shergalis Retirement Reception Set for June 7
A celebration for MMI President Dr. William A. Shergalis, in honor of his retirement, will be held on Saturday, June 7, with a special cocktail and buffet reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $40 per person. [Download response form]
