Academic, activity awards presented at MMI Preparatory School PDF Print E-mail

Academic and student service awards assemblies were held recently at MMI Preparatory School, Freeland. Awards were presented by Dr. William Shergalis, School President; Thomas Hood, Vice President; John Scibilia, Director of Guidance; and by advisors of various co-curricular activities.

Academic honors were achieved by the following students in the subjects listed:

Eleventh grade – Katrina Enright, AP English, AP European History; Adam Wisniewski, Spanish III, George Eastman Young Leaders Award, University of Pennsylvania Book Award, National Merit High Score; Jan Wessel, Bausch and Lomb Science Award; Traci Smith, Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Humanities and Social Sciences Award, National Merit High Score; Daniel Migatulski, Analysis, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Award; Kristyn Lizbinski, Bryn Mawr College President’s Book Award, German III; Kelci Scirrotto, Well’s 21st Century Leadership Award; Niklas Anthony, Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology; Jonathan Senczakowicz, English; and Emily Gosselin, German III.

Tenth grade – Brone Lobichusky, Honors World History, German II; Joseph Caputo, semi-finalist USA Biology Olympiad, first place regional and fourth place national, Brain Bee; Ross Bluth, Algebra II; Jordan Gorski, Geometry; Sarah Careyva, Spanish II, fourth place regional Brain Bee; Diana Anthony, Spanish II; Megan Veglia, Spanish II; Lewis Bevans, Marywood Math Award; and Magdalean Rychik, World History.

Ninth grade – Amanda Miller, German I; Amanda Lara, Spanish I; Courtney Bogansky, Spanish I; Michael McGraw, Spanish I.

Eighth grade – Bala Natarajin, Pre-Algebra; Paul Brasavage, Algebra I. 

Seventh grade – David Polashenski, Geography Bee.

Sixth grade – Kristen Purcell, Math; Robert Kupsho, Social Studies; Alexis Williams, Literature; Alexander Drusda, Literature; Sara Lucas, English; Paige Darrow, Science.

Next, Physical Education instructors Patricia Medvecky and Bruce Young presented the Presidential Physical Fitness Award to sixth-grade students Hayle Shearer and Charlie Karchner, seventh-grade student Kirsten Young, sophomores Tony Carrato and Leo Moroz and junior Brianna Kramer. The National Physical Fitness awards were given to the students in the following grades:

Sixth grade – Sandy Bluth, Kristen Purcell, Pat Driscoll and Steven Principe.

Seventh grade – Megan Klein, Devon Sherwood and Noah Beltrami.

Eighth grade – Brittany Fisher, Brianna Simpkins, Annika Wessel, Zack Marchetti and Christian Parsons.

Ninth grade – Julia Dasher, Josh Kiddish and Fran Swankoski.

Tenth grade – Diana Anthony, Alyona Kostyal, Alaina Titus, Megan Veglia, Joseph Caputo, Justin Dasher, Zachary Haupt, Connor McNelis, Micah Schnauffer and Robert Yamulla.

Eleventh grade – Emily Gosselin, Allison Thomas and Justin Yakubowski.
