Head Coach Don Arbaugh has coached MMI’s tennis teams for the past three years.   Long involved in tennis at both the local and national levels, Coach Arbaugh was recognized as The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Middle States Eastern Pennsylvania District 2006 Coach of the Year for his “dedication in improving the program, player development, and character development.”  The boy’s tennis team competes in the Wyoming Valley Conference and earned a League Championship title in 1979.  Returning to lead the team in 2008 is #1-singles player Mike Casari, a senior.  Last year, Casari reached the third round of the District Championship.

High Performance Tennis Training

Winter 2007-08 

When:  Six Sundays (12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3)

Time:  2:00-4:00 pm

Where:  Split Rock Lodge, Lake Harmony, PA at the Galeria Tennis Courts

About the program:

1.      These sessions will focus on stroke production and match play in a structured and fun format.

2.      The classes will be conducted by PTR certified tennis professionals who have a combined tennis teaching experience of over 45 years.  The instructors are:  Don Arbaugh (Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach at MMI Preparatory School, PTR, BS Health and PE, Registered Physical Therapist, USTA/MS/EPD 2006 Coach of the Year, 2004 Tournament Director of the Year), Joe Romano (PTR, USTA/MS/EPD 2007 Pro of the Year, Head Boys Tennis Coach at Pocono Mountain West High School, Head Tennis Pro at Pocono Farms Country Club), Barbara VanBuskirk (PTR,  USTA/MS/EPD 2005 Pro of the Year, BS Health and PE, USTA/MS VP Community Tennis)
