The softball program is one of MMI’s up-and-coming athletic programs.  Playing in the Wyoming Valley Conference, the Lady Preppers’ nine has advanced to the PIAA play-offs seven times, most recently last year during the 2007 campaign.  Additional play-off appearances have been in: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999.  The head coach of the softball team is David Purcell and he is assisted by sister, Kathy Purcell, both in their third year.  The 2008 campaign will be spearheaded by a duo of pitchers in senior Gabbie Dei Tos and sophomore Shannon Wenner.  The Preppers will also begin a girls' softball program at the mid-school level in the spring of 2009.
