Mrs. Donna Titus returns to MMI for the 2026–27 academic year, bringing with her more than four decades of teaching experience, a deep love for MMI, and a legacy that has touched generations of students. She will teach Middle School History this year, continuing her long tradition of making learning engaging, meaningful, and memorable.
Mrs. Titus first joined the MMI faculty shortly after college and quickly discovered a School where she could truly teach. During her years in the classroom, she has inspired students through lessons that brought history, literature, mythology, and pop culture to life, while encouraging them to think critically, question assumptions, share their ideas, and find their own interests and passions.
For Mrs. Titus, teaching has always been more than a career. “As I got further along in the process of preparing to teach, I knew it was the right vocation, or a ‘calling,’ not a job,” she explains. Her goal has always been to prepare students not simply with knowledge, but for life itself. “My ultimate goal as a teacher is to make my input into their learning superfluous, to take them to the point of total independence, where I am no longer needed and they are ready to leave the ‘proverbial nest.’”
Her connection to MMI has always extended well beyond the classroom. Growing up in Weatherly, Mrs. Titus dreamed of attending MMI herself, but the School did not yet admit female students. Years later, she returned to campus as a teacher and became one of the longest serving members of the MMI faculty. She also left her mark on MMI in a particularly when she wrote the second verse of the School’s alma mater, at the request of the Student Council. At her retirement in 2025, MMI celebrated her extraordinary service by presenting her with an honorary diploma, officially welcoming her into the ranks of MMI’s honorary alumni.
MMI is thrilled to welcome Mrs. Titus back, and our community looks forward to the experience, humor, and heart she will once again bring to her classroom. Her MMI connection is also a family affair. Her children, Nate ’03, Colin ’06, and Alaina ’10, are all MMI graduates, while her husband, Albert, continues to be part of the MMI family as a School van driver, transporting students to and from campus.
