Through her self-reliance and disciplined focus in a highly demanding environment, Maria is an outstanding reflection of MMI Preparatory School. Within her professional and personal life, Maria exemplifies a commitment to character and community service, two core values of the foundation she built during her time at MMI.
Maria began her academic journey as a proud member of a multigenerational MMI family. Her father, Dr. Anthony Carrato ’83, served on MMI’s Board of Directors from 1999 to 2010, and her siblings Angela ’09, Anthony ’10, Dana ’17, and Nicholas ’19 are also MMI alumni. After graduating in 2014, Maria pursued a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting from Saint Joseph’s University. There, she earned Dean’s List honors and a 3.8 GPA. This commitment to academic excellence and integrity drove her to get her Certified Public Accountant’s license in Pennsylvania.
As a Financial Due Diligence Manager / Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Maria serves private equity and Fortune 500 clients across complex M&A transactions and strategic investments, ranging from $20 million to $2 billion. In an industry that requires analytical rigor, sound judgment, and resilience, Maria combines intellectual prowess with maturity beyond her years, earning the trust of senior clients and colleagues alike.
Beyond her client responsibilities, Maria is a recognized leader within her practice. She serves as Champion for PwC’s Philadelphia Financial Due Diligence (FDD) Learning & Development program, where she leads local training initiatives for over 80 M&A professionals, curates relevant technical content aligned with evolving deal trends, and drives engagement. Maria was also selected to represent the Philadelphia FDD in PwC’s Deals AI Champion Network, where she partners with PwC’s national Leadership Team to advance innovation and promote ethical AI use.
As an active member of PwC’s Women’s Inclusion Network, Maria supports programming and initiatives that foster the development and advancement of women across the firm. She is a trusted mentor to junior professionals and consistently invests time in helping others.
Maria embodies integrity, humility, and a strong sense of responsibility to those around her. She leads with confidence but remains grounded and collaborative. At this early stage in her career, she is already making a meaningful impact within a global organization, advising business leaders across the country, and serving as a role model for others.
