MMI Preparatory School Head of School Mrs. Theresa Long is pleased to announce a new partnership with RedefinED School Advancement to expand scholarship opportunities for students through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, further strengthening the School’s commitment to affordability, accessibility, and educational opportunity.
The partnership comes at a pivotal time for MMI as the School recently launched a tuition reset initiative designed to make an exceptional independent school education more attainable for families throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. The tuition reset reflects MMI’s belief that cost should not be a barrier for families seeking a rigorous, student-centered educational experience that prepares young people for success in college and beyond.
While the tuition reset lowers the cost of attendance for all families, MMI continues to see strong demand for financial assistance and scholarship support. Through its partnership with RedefinED, the School will expand awareness and participation in Pennsylvania’s EITC program, creating additional scholarship resources that help bridge financial gaps for families and ensure that more students have access to an MMI education.
“The tuition reset was an important first step in making an MMI education more affordable and transparent for families,” said Mrs. Long. “At the same time, we recognize that many families will continue to rely on scholarship assistance to make an independent school education possible. Our partnership with RedefinED allows us to strengthen one of the most important parts of our mission by expanding scholarship opportunities and ensuring that more deserving students can benefit from the transformational experience MMI provides. Together, the alignment between the tuition reset and expanded scholarship support creates a pathway for more students to access an MMI education.”

The EITC program allows qualified individuals and business owners to redirect a portion of their Pennsylvania tax liability to support educational scholarships. Participants may receive significant state tax credits while helping provide life-changing opportunities for students seeking an independent school education.
As part of the partnership, Ms. Erin Rockwell will serve as MMI’s dedicated Relationship Manager and an extension of the School’s Advancement team. She will work directly with prospective donors to explain the program, answer questions, and guide participants through the enrollment process.
“We are excited to partner with MMI Preparatory School as they continue to prioritize educational access for students and families,” said Ms. Rockwell. “The EITC program gives individuals and businesses a unique opportunity to transform tax dollars they are already paying into scholarships that have a lasting impact on students’ lives and educational futures.”

For nearly 150 years, MMI has remained committed to providing a rigorous college preparatory education while opening doors for students from diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Today, approximately one-third of MMI students receive tuition assistance, and the School remains committed to ensuring that qualified students have the opportunity to benefit from an MMI education regardless of financial circumstances.
The tuition reset and partnership with RedefinED represent a shared commitment to removing financial barriers, expanding educational opportunity, and supporting the long-term growth of the School. By increasing participation in the EITC program, MMI can further strengthen scholarship funding while helping more families discover that an MMI education is within reach.
Business owners, professionals, and community members interested in learning more about the EITC program are encouraged to connect with Erin Rockwell to explore how they can support student scholarships through this tax-advantaged giving opportunity.
