MMI Preparatory School sophomore Anirban Chowdhury recently recorded the region’s highest score on the Susquehanna Valley Section of the American Chemical Society’s annual chemistry exam.

Chowdhury, the son of Bhaskar and Saumitri Chowdhury of Hazle Township, took the test last month at Bloomsburg University. He earned the top score in Exam A, which is given to students currently enrolled in their first year of chemistry. Chowdhury received an award alongside his teacher, Todd Ronco, during the Susquehanna Valley Section’s annual awards banquet at Bloomsburg University.

The Susquehanna Valley Section of the American Chemical Society sponsors the competitive high school chemistry examinations, which also includes a test for those in AP chemistry, to recognize and reward outstanding high school chemistry students in its area of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
