Dr. Joseph A. Donato ‘66 operated a private practice in general dentistry since the 1970s which had offices in Freeland and Conyngham. After completing dentistry school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Dr. Donato returned to Freeland to remain close to his family and practice dentistry in the community where he was raised. He has been inducted as a fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Endodontic Society. He is active in the Pennsylvania Dental Association on the local, district, and state levels and has held past leadership roles with the organization. He also served as president of the Hazleton District Dental Society. Throughout his career, Dr. Donato has continued to remain close to his alma mater. He served on the MMI Board of Directors from 1979 to 1988, including a year as secretary of the Board, and was named to the Honorary Board in 2012. He also established an endowed scholarship, the Dr. Joseph A. Donato ’66 Endowed Scholarship Fund, to contribute to MMI students for years to come.
