Ten MMI Preparatory School students placed in the top 10 in their respective competitive events categories at the 2016 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference in Hershey, including four students who placed in the top four and will advance to the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Allison McGeehan placed second in the Business Law category and was honored in a recognition ceremony at the conclusion of the awards program for being elected to serve the state chapter on the Executive Committee as the 2016-2017 Pennsylvania FBLA State Reporter. Joshua Narrow, Joey Kress, and Nicholas Young placed fourth for their work in Marketing and will join Allison McGeehan at the national conference in Atlanta from June 29 to July 2.

A total of 31 students in the MMI FBLA Club competed at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference. Keenan Overa, Garrett Kost, and Olivia Minzola placed sixth in the Business Plan category, Anirban Chowdhury finished sixth in Business Calculations, and Jessica and Danielle Pileggi were eighth for their work in Public Service Announcement. 

MMI’s school chapter received a state recognition for placing second in the Local Market Share Award. 

Katherine Zucco, MMI’s FBLA adviser, said, “We are beyond proud of all MMI FBLA participants. It’s an honor to have Allison McGeehan represent MMI as a member of Pennsylvania’s Executive Committee and we’re excited to have Allison, Joshua Narrow, Joey Kress, and Nicholas Young attend the national conference this summer.”

Allison McGeehan is the daughter of Thomas and Sandra McGeehan, Drums; Joshua Narrow is the son of Howard and Marie Narrow, Hazleton; Joey Kress is the daughter of Jessica Holliday, Drums, and Joseph and Tracy Kress, Sugarloaf; Nicholas Young is the son of Christian and Nicole Young, Freeland; Keenan Overa is the son of Timothy and Lori Overa, Drums; Garrett Kost is the son of Joseph and Natalie Kost, Freeland; Olivia Minzola is the daughter of Joseph and Debra Minzola, Drums; Anirban Chowdhury is the son of Bhaskar and Saumitri Chowdhury, Hazle Township; and Jessica and Danielle Pileggi are the daughters of Daniel and Sandra Pileggi, Albrightsville.
