Students from the MMI Preparatory School Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed at the Region 16 Leadership Conference held at the Woodlands Resort in Wilkes-Barre December 18, 2014. Of the 59 students who competed, nearly half received special honors for their performance in various business-related competitive events.

The following MMI students placed in the top five at the regional conference: Emily Seratch placed 1st in Client Service, Allison McGeehan placed 1st in Introduction to Business Communication, Nick Young placed 1st in Business Math, Chava Kornblatt placed 1st in Intro to Parliamentary Procedure, Katie Eschenbach, Doug Genetti, and Keenan Overa placed 1st in Global Business, William Bower placed 2nd in Personal Finance, Kisan Patel placed 2nd in FBLA Principles and Procedures, Sydney Karpovich placed 2nd in Public Speaking I, Kelsy Donaldson and Soprina Guarneri placed 2nd in Marketing, Keegan Farrell and Joseph Synoski placed 2nd in Management Information Systems, Mark Lobitz, George Palermo, Jack Malay, James Lambert, and Michael Badamo placed 2nd in Parliamentary Procedure, Mike Eisenhart placed 3rd in Computer Problem Solving, Olivia Minzola placed 3rd in Introduction to Business Communication, Joshua Narrow, Lacee Gera, and Joey Kress placed 3rd in Network Design, Kevin Cibak placed 5th in Cyber Security, Talia Logerfo and Abby Paul placed 5th in Banking and Financial Systems, and Aine Durako and Caelyn McGran placed 5th in Management Decision Making.

Furthermore, 24 MMI students qualified to compete at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference to be held in Hershey later this spring. These students are Emily Seratch, Allison McGeehan, Nick Young, Chava Kornblatt, Katie Eschenbach, Doug Genetti, Keenan Overa, William Bower, Kisan Patel, Kelsy Donaldson, Soprina Guarneri, Keegan Farrell, Joseph Synoski, Mark Lobitz, George Palermo, Jack Malay, James Lambert, Michael Badamo, Mike Eisenhart, Olivia Minzola, and Kevin Cibak.

Yusuf Qadri, Jessica Smith, and Jonathan Smith, who placed in the Top Ten throughout the state for competing in a special team event, will also represent MMI at the Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference.

FBLA-MMI-advancing-group-009-WEBNearly 40 percent of the MMI upper school student population is involved in the FBLA club. Katherine Zucco and Tina Lizbinski are the advisers to MMI’s chapter of the FBLA. The Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The students in MMI’s chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership of more than 13,000 students in 290 schools.
