MMI Preparatory School sophomores Lauren Babinetz and Caelyn McGran will represent MMI at the 2016 Central Pennsylvania Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar. The annual seminar will be held May 19-22 at Shippensburg University.

Babinetz is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Babinetz of Jim Thorpe and McGran is the daughter of John and Barbara McGran of Drums.

HOBY hosts three- or four-day seminars across the country that focus on the theme “Empower. Lead. Excel” while encouraging the young leaders to display responsible citizenship, including community service and volunteerism. Each September, HOBY sophomore registration kits are sent to more than 22,000 public, private, and charter high schools in the United States. MMI selects two students through an essay-based application process to represent the school at the seminar.

The curriculum for this leadership seminar is based on HOBY’s vision to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society. HOBY believes students represent the future leaders of the world – leaders in business, education, government, and many other fields – because they are young people who will make a difference.

Students are encouraged to realize their leadership potential and take action in their homes, schools, workplace, communities, and the world by developing and understanding effective and compassionate leadership. The HOBY experience teaches personal leadership, group leadership, and leadership for society.
