An English teacher at MMI Preparatory School, who was nominated by one of her students, has received an honorable mention in a local contest sponsored by Barnes & Noble, Inc.

English teacher Donna Titus was selected from more than 80 local entries in Barnes & Noble’s “My Favorite Teacher” contest. The nomination essay was written by MMI sophomore Dana Carrato, daughter of Anthony and Carmine Carrato, Hazleton.

Students were invited to nominate their favorite teacher by writing essays, poems, or thank-you letters that explain how their teacher has influenced their life and reveal why they appreciate and admire him or her. Entries were judged on the compelling nature of the teacher’s qualities, the sincerity of the student’s appreciation, and the quality of expression and writing.

Titus and Carrato will be recognized in a ceremony on Sunday, April 12 at 1:00 P.M. at the Arena Hub Plaza Barnes & Noble. The presentation is free and open to the public.
