MMI Open House 2018

MMI Preparatory School, located at 154 Centre Street in Freeland, will hold its annual Open House event this Sunday, March 24, from 2 to 4:30 p.m.

The annual event, which is free and open to the public, gives MMI students the opportunity to showcase their academic and culinary arts projects. State Street Corporation is the event sponsor for the second year.

Visitors can view the academic projects from 2 to 4 p.m., while the culinary projects will be available to see and sample from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

All MMI students in grades six through 12 create projects in either literature, mathematics, science, or social studies. Culinary projects are reserved for senior students. The projects will be on display at various locations throughout the school.

MMI students prepare all projects under the guidance of faculty advisers. “Mathematical Concepts That Affect Our Reality,” “Which Method of Cooking Destroys the Most Bacteria?,” “A Programmable LED Tie,” “The History of Rock and Roll,” “How Vaccines Work,” “Green” Dish Detergents-As Eco-Friendly As Advertised?,” “Decellularizing Kidneys,” and “Does the Cell Phone Have an Impact on the Brain?” are some of this year’s projects.

A panel of judges from Penn State Hazleton critique the projects. The winners are honored at a special assembly.
