Mr. Lambert E. Broad, described as a visionary leader interested in his fellow man, served as MMI President from 1934 to 1973. He assumed the school presidency at a time when enrollment was down because of the Depression and was responsible for reversing this trend and building a strong academic program. One of Mr. Broad’s most notable achievements was MMI’s first Middle States Accreditation. He directed the reconstruction and expansion of MMI following the 1964 fire and led the fundraising campaign that was required to rebuild the Old Main building. MMI also became a co-educational school under his tenure. Following his dedicated service as President of MMI, Mr. Broad served eight years on the MMI Board of Directors.
