Mr. Michael Watahovich ‘61 played on the MMI Boys Basketball team for three years, and led the region in scoring for two of those years, in 1960 and 1961. Mr. Watahovich also broke the MMI Basketball all-time scoring record with 1,445 career points. In addition to his skills on the basketball court, he led the MMI Baseball team on the field for three years. In regional baseball, he served as catcher for the 1958 Valley Babe Ruth Baseball Team which competed in the Babe Ruth World Series Championship in Stockton, California. In 1968, Mr. Watahovich became the first person in Pennsylvania to receive the prestigious Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist credentials. He competed in a number of national and international power lifting competitions and claimed first place in the World National Power lifting Federation (WNPF) Championships in 1994.
