Wall of Fame Class of 2006

What began as a typical basketball season at MMI in December of 1972 ended with one of the most remarkable athletic achievements in school history – a Class C State Championship for MMI’s boys’ basketball team. While several team members excelled with individual achievements (1,000 point club members Jim Lundy, John Timko and Joe Feno), it was the unique character and spirit of the team and its coaches, Walter Greshko and Anthony Cusat, that led to this tremendous achievement and captured the interest and excitement of sports fans throughout the region. The Preppers won the Anthracite League Championship, the PIAA District II Class C Championship and posted several come-from-behind playoff victories on the way to its 77-71 win over Allegheny-Clarion Valley in the Class C State Championship. The Preppers finished the season with a 24-6 record.
