Three MMI Preparatory School students placed in the annual Israel T. & Mildred Klapper Memorial Holocaust Essay Contest.

Senior Jayden Bonham, Junior Khristian Banks, and Junior Ty McDermott represented MMI Preparatory School at the state finals of the Pennsylvania School Press Association’s Student Journalism Competition at the University Park Campus at Penn State.

A team of four MMI Preparatory School students placed fourth in the annual Bloomsburg University Math Contest.

MMI Preparatory School announced that it has appointed two co-head coaches of the varsity baseball program for the upcoming season. Cory Rogers ’15 and Charlie Karchner ’14 will lead the Preppers through the next season.

MMI sophomore Abigail Sparich won the local chapter contest and earned 3rd place at the district level in the 2022 PA American Legion Essay Contest. Sparich is the daughter of Joe and Michele Sparich of Weatherly.

Zachary Naugle, Jared Santana, and Marissa Yamulla placed in the top three during MMI Preparatory School’s Sixth Grade Science Fair, which was held on February 11 in the MMI Cafeteria.

Junior Jessica Zheng, along with her research partner Xinyi Zhang of South Brunswick High School in NJ, was named a finalist in MIT THINK 2022. Zheng is the daughter of De Zheng and Hongzhi Zhang of Jim Thorpe.

Twenty of MMI Preparatory School’s participants placed in the top five of their respective categories at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Virtual Regional competition, nineteen individuals and two teams will advance to the 2021 FBLA State Leadership Conference.

MMI seniors Rachael Betz, Jayden Bonham and Connor Spencer received awards in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition.

The state finals will be held on March 30, 2022, at Penn State University’s University Park campus.

MMI Preparatory School senior Kaylee Witner, seated center, will continue her academic and athletic career in softball at Washington & Jefferson College.

Senior Daniella Vasquez has been named a Semifinalist for the 2022 class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, moving to the next round of the selection process to become a Coca-Cola Scholar and receive a $20,000 college scholarship.

Students at MMI Preparatory School honored their School’s founder, Eckley Brinton Coxe, and his wife, Sophia Georgianna Coxe, during a program at the school and graveside service on Wednesday, giving thanks for the Coxes’ contributions to the school and the area.

MMI Preparatory School sophomore Paul Neyhart won the club-level round of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay Scholarship Competition for his essay on this year’s theme, “America: Where Do We Go From Here?”. Neyhart is the son of Joyce and Paul Neyhart of Hazleton.  

MMI Preparatory School junior Jillian McGeehin, the daughter of Larry and Amy McGeehin of Sugarloaf, won the School’s Poetry Out Loud competition and will represent MMI at the regional competition.

MMI Preparatory School senior Carson Valkusky, seated center, will continue his academic and athletic career in baseball at Penn State Hazleton.
