Mid Penn Bank donated $7,500 to MMI Preparatory School through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Scholarship program.

MMI Preparatory School sophomore Jessica Zheng captured first place at the virtual Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference and will represent MMI at the National Leadership Conference, while sophomore Manal Muhammad and junior Rachael Betz both finished in the top 10.

Seven MMI Preparatory School students placed in the annual Israel T. & Mildred Klapper Memorial Holocaust Essay Contest.

MMI Preparatory School sophomore Jessica Zheng was selected to participate in The Rockefeller University Summer Science Research Program, which will be held virtually from June 28 to August 5.

MMI Preparatory School juniors Rachael Betz and Connor Spencer were two of only 64 students from an applicant pool of 351 students from across Pennsylvania who were selected to participate in the 2021 Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences.

Twenty-two MMI Preparatory School students received First and Second Awards during the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) regional competition earlier this month and 12 of them will move on to represent MMI at the virtual state competition in May.

Nine MMI Preparatory School students represented the school at the recent MATHCOUNTS virtual chapter competition and eighth grader Alexander Composto qualified to participate in the Chapter Invitational.

MMI seniors Louis DeAngelo and Darren Zheng were selected as Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

MMI senior Kevin McNulty, the son of Tim and Kim McNulty of Forty Fort, has been selected to receive both the President’s Volunteer Service Award and a Distinguished State Finalist medallion in The 2021 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for his volunteer work at the Al Beech/West Side Food Pantry in Kingston.

MMI senior Kevin McNulty will continue his academic and baseball careers at Rochester Institute of Technology.

MMI senior Dominique Kline received two awards in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. Kline, the daughter of John and June Kline of Mountaintop, won a Silver Key for her poem, “no harmony in human NATURE” and was awarded an Honorable Mention for her poem “Notches on a Belt.” MMI English instructor Jennifer Novotney served as the advisor for the competition.

MMI Preparatory School purchased six Circuit Scribe drawing pens and additional refills with a $500 Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance grant received from Onvo. The Circuit Scribe conductive ink pen, which contains actual liquid silver, offers instructors an innovative way of teaching how electricity and electronics work and gives students an immersive, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experience.

Thirty-one of MMI Preparatory School’s 51 participants placed in the top five of their respective categories at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional competition, including nine individuals and two teams who captured first place, and 23 students will advance to the 2021 FBLA State Leadership Conference.

MMI Preparatory School sophomore Jillian McGeehin, the daughter of Larry and Amy McGeehin of Sugarloaf, won the School’s Poetry Out Loud competition and will represent MMI at the regional competition. Sophomore Annabel Dobash, the daughter of Gregory and Stacey Dobash of Mountaintop, was the runner-up. MMI English instructor Jennifer Novotney served as the faculty advisor.

MMI Preparatory School recently received a $5,000 contribution from Community Bank, N.A. through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program to go toward need-based scholarships at the school. MMI Director of Advancement Kim McNulty said, “On behalf of everyone at MMI Preparatory School, I’d like to thank Community Bank, N.A. for their generous contribution. Since 2005, MMI students have received nearly $3.8 million in scholarship support thanks to the contributions of many area companies.
