2023 UNICO NATIONAL AMERICANISM AWARD GOES TO MMI BOARD CHAIRMAN RICHARD DiLIBERTO

Unico National, America’s largest Italian-American Service Organization, is awarding its 2023 Philip Mazzei Americanism Award to MMI Preparatory School Board Chairman Richard A. DiLiberto, Jr., at its annual convention in Sanibel Harbour, Florida, in July. The award is named for Philip Mazzei, an Italian patriot, physician and vintner, who became a close friend and neighbor to Thomas Jefferson, in colonial Virginia in 1774. Mazzei is credited with first proposing the great phrase “All men are created equal” anchored in the Declaration of Independence in 1776, by Jefferson.

PJAS Regional Participants

Forty-one MMI students participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science regionals

Forty-one MMI Preparatory School students participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) regional competition in March. Twenty-four earned first awards (one won twice), 15 won second awards (one won twice), and two earned third awards.  The first award winners will represent MMI at the state competition at the University Park Campus of Penn State in May.

MMI Preparatory School will host its annual Open House sponsored by State Street this Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event where students will showcase their projects.

Two MMI Students Named Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalists

Local high school seniors Khristian Banks and Jessica Zheng have been named Semifinalists for the 2023 class of the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, moving to the next round of the selection process to become a Coca-Cola Scholar and receive a $20,000 college scholarship.
