Novotney said, “I am very proud of all the students–both contributors and those who held staff positions–for the hard work and dedication they showed in creating this year’s literary magazine. This award is a testament to the talented students we have at MMI. I’m also excited to announce that we have submitted Angst to the National Council of Teachers of English Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines.”

At the Pennsylvania School Press Association competition, literary magazines are judged on content and organization, editing, writing, art and photography, and design. The judges are chosen from a pool of professional journalists and out-of-state certified journalism educators.

The Pennsylvania School Press Association sponsors publication evaluations as a service to student journalists and their advisors. Through this evaluation, the association provides guidance, constructive suggestions, and commendations to help each publication achieve excellence.
