Wall of Fame Class of 2007

Mr. Jake Kislan ’56 was a superior athlete at MMI in both baseball and basketball for four years. In his senior year, he was selected as the region’s top basketball guard and helped lead the Preppers to the Anthracite League Championship with a 21-4 record. After graduation, he played semi-professional baseball and was scouted by the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Jeddo Stars, the premier area amateur baseball team, and later played in several fast-pitch softball leagues in the region. Mr. Kislan is the founder of the American Softball Association (ASA) of Pennsylvania softball complex in Drifton which was rededicated in his name in 2005. He has received many local and regional honors including induction into the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Luzerne County Chapter of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame, the ASA of Pennsylvania District Hall of Fame and the ASA of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
