MMI awards inaugural Feussner scholarship

A new scholarship has been established at MMI Preparatory School with the first recipient selected this year. The Roy and Dorothy Feussner Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014 by Dr. John R. Feussner ’64, Mrs. Patricia A. Morse, Mr. Gregory G. Feussner and Mr. Ronald A. Feussner ’70 in honor of their parents. The Feussners are the proprietors of Feussner Ford in Freeland.

MMI honors Wall of Fame inductees

MMI Preparatory School honored the new members of its Wall of Fame during the ninth annual Wall of Fame dinner and ceremony held on September 20. Established in 2006, the MMI Wall of Fame honors alumni in addition to current and past faculty, staff and board members who have distinguished themselves in the areas of athletics, business, sciences, education, government, public service, the arts or humanities. Wall of Fame inductees are selected in the following categories: Athletic Achievement, Community Service, Service to MMI and Professional Achievement. Instructor’s song to be featured on TV show tonight

An instructor at MMI Preparatory School will have his original song used in a television show tonight. Daniel DeMelfi’s “I Stand For You,” performed by Venessa Vicoso, will be featured in Thursday evening’s episode of Warrior Summit Outdoor. The show features returning soldiers engaging in outdoor activities to alleviate any PTSD symptoms. It airs locally at 9:00 P.M. on WYLN-TV 35, which is seen on Service Electric Cable Channel 7. DeMelfi is a music instructor and choir and Glee Club director at MMI. He is certified by the American College of Musicians.

MMI healthy option cooking featured on WBRE

MMI’s new healthy school lunch program is gaining attention with the start of school just around the corner as WBRE TV broadcast live from the school kitchen Monday morning, August 18, with segments in four early newscasts. WBRE reporter Jasmine Brooks interviewed students, teachers, and administrators about the school’s new menu that will feature healthier choices and dishes that are cooked up fresh by the school’s new chef using scratch ingredients. MMI students receive athletic awards

MMI Preparatory School presented athletic awards to students during the school’s Awards Convocation held recently. The awards were presented by MMI Athletic Director Jason Tribbet, Assistant Head of School Charles Seidel and team coaches. Teams recognized Most Improved Players, Most Valuable Players and Coaches’ Award Recipients.

Becker chosen for government study program

Gabriellia Nunez Becker, who recently completed her junior year at MMI Preparatory School, has been selected to attend a program this summer that teaches girls about American government.

MMI Holds 122nd Commencement

MMI Preparatory School in Freeland, conducted its 122nd Commencement Exercises on Thursday, May 22, as seniors were awarded diplomas by Brian G. Lucas ’84, chairman of MMI’s Board of Directors. This year’s graduating class of 35 seniors amassed more than $6.6 million in merit scholarships and awards. The 2014 graduating class also attained an average SAT score of 1787, several hundred points above state and national averages. The Class of 2014’s average ACT score is 26.
